Get your raw DNA file
Download the file for a test you own or manage from your testing company. Keep it on your device, then open Your DNA Family and choose the raw DNA import card. Your DNA Family checks whether the file is supported when you upload it.
- Get your fileUse your testing company's own instructions below. Some companies email you a download link a day or two later, so request it now.
- Install and sign inInstall Your DNA Family on your Windows, Mac or Linux computer and sign in while you wait for your file. It does not run on a phone: on a phone, open this page again later on your computer.
- Upload your DNAIn the app, choose the raw DNA import card and select your downloaded file. Upload it exactly as it downloaded: most companies send it zipped (.zip or .gz). Do not unzip it or add other files.

- AncestryDNA download instructions (opens in a new tab or window) Choose the DNA test you manage in Ancestry settings, then request its DNA data download.
- 23andMe download instructions (opens in a new tab or window) Request the raw genotyping data for the profile you manage. 23andMe emails you when it is ready.
- MyHeritage download instructions (opens in a new tab or window) Download a completed MyHeritage DNA test from Manage DNA kits. For a kit uploaded from elsewhere, use its original testing company.
- FamilyTreeDNA download instructions (opens in a new tab or window) Choose the Family Finder raw data download “Build 37 Concatenated”. It is the complete file, with the X chromosome. Do not use a Y-DNA or mtDNA report.
- Living DNA download instructions (opens in a new tab or window) Select the autosomal family-ancestry raw data option for the profile you manage.

Keep your DNA file private. Do not attach it to an email to us, or send it by email to anyone, including the person who invited you.
