Where will my DNA data be stored?

Question:

Where will my DNA data be stored?

Answer:

Your data is stored and processed on our own enterprise-grade infrastructure located in Singapore, where our company (Numero Pte. Ltd.) is based. Your privacy is governed by Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

When you first add a DNA file, the raw file is briefly held on a secure cloud service so it can be prepared for analysis, and it is then removed within 24 hours. Everything after that — the long-term storage and the DNA comparison work — happens on our own systems in Singapore.

A few things we want you to know:

  • Your data is never sold, and it is never used for advertising.
  • Your data is not shared with third parties other than the service providers we need to run the app (for example, to send you email).
  • Your DNA data remains yours. If you ask us to delete it, your raw files are removed from our systems within 30 days, subject to any period we are legally required to keep records.
  • Your data is protected with up-to-date encryption both while it travels to us and while it is stored.
